In 2011, the Tree Group Press published Dr. Edna Foa’s ‘Prolonged Exposure Therapy Therapist Guide’ and ‘Client Workbook’. Prolonged Exposure Therapy, PE is an evidence-based psychological treatment that can give therapeutic effects in a short-period of time for post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD, which is caused by sexual assaults, accidents, and any other crimes.
PE allows individuals to confront their traumatic memories and process the related emotions, so that the individuals can start living their lives without PTSD.
PE was selected by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, SAMHSA and the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention as a Model Program. Many victims from all around the world overcame PTSD through PE. PE is a psychological treatment that can effectively treat symptoms, such as depression and anxiety in addition to PTSD.
Dr. Cho is the translator who began to treat clients using Dr. Edna Foa’s PE since 2003. He invited Dr. Foa to Korea in 2005. He translated the second editions of PE Therapist Guide and Workbook in 2022.
